A simple three-part formula that turns 'responsible for' into a measurable, defensible achievement.
Why duty language fails
"Responsible for managing vendor relationships" tells a reader what your job description said, not what you did with it. Every other candidate with that title can write the same line, so it carries no comparative information.
The three-part formula
Action + scope + result. Start with a strong verb, state the size of the thing you touched, then close with a measurable outcome or a defensible qualitative one.
Example: "Renegotiated 14 vendor contracts worth ₦180m annually, cutting logistics spend 12% without service penalties." Same job, radically different signal.
When you have no numbers
Use frequency, comparison or consequence: what happened before you, what happened after, and how often. Auditable specificity beats invented metrics every time — a claim you cannot explain in an interview is worse than no claim.
